Sat Nam,
May this find you well and your spirit filled with vitality during this Winter Solstice time! As you may know our main mission here at Guru Ram Das Ashram has been of service. As inspired by the tradition and lineage of the Sikh Gurus, our dream is to serve our communities in a way that provides comfort, security and nourishment. We've had the great privilege of serving in this way for almost 50 years, whether that is through our yoga and meditation teachings or our recently launched food relief program which has already provided groceries for those in need in the surrounding local communities.
Our service and work continue as we expand the work of Guru Nanak’s Community Kitchen and progress into Phase 2 of our kitchen-community building.
In just the first few months of operation, our Food Relief Program has already provided enough natural groceries (organic and GMO free whenever possible) to provide over 2500 meals to those in need.
The remodeling of our community building & kitchen are ready to move into Phase 2, which includes the addition of a new wing with bathrooms and a cozy gathering space. This will keep the kitchen safe for food preparation, allow easy access to the bathrooms from both yoga classrooms, and provide a space for comradery after classes and for volunteers who are working in the kitchen. Over time, this addition will make it easier for us to bring warm, wholesome meals to food insecure members of the larger community.
These projects are manifesting because of caring people like you.
Our overall goal is to raise $350,000 to fund both the construction project and the food relief program. We hope that you can continue to support in any way possible for you. Please consider having your gift matched by your employer – or tell a friend about the important work we are doing.
Together, we can make this dream for the Langar Kitchen a reality!
